EMDR: Unlocking Athletic Potential

In-person in Duluth, and virtually across Minnesota, Colorado, and Wisconsin.

Out of Sync? You’re Not Alone.

Being an athlete isn’t just about highlight reels and hustle—it’s also the quiet stuff no one talks about. Like choking on game day, freezing up after an injury, or lying awake replaying that one bad play on a loop.

You want to show up at your best, but lately? You’re stuck in your head. Snapping at your coach (or yourself). Dreading practices. Feeling off, like your body’s ready but your brain’s throwing flags.

What you actually need? Real, science-backed tools that help you reset—not another “just breathe and visualize greatness” speech.

Step onto the field without your stomach in knots.

No flashbacks of that one injury. No spiraling after one bad play. Just sharp focus, calm nerves, and confidence that actually sticks.

Picture this: you're finally back in your body—focused, trusting your instincts, playing your game, not fear’s. You bounce back quicker after setbacks, handle pressure like a pro, and sleep better the night before a big match.

That edge you’ve been missing? It’s back—and it’s been mental all along.

Why Us? Because We Get It.

We love a good pep talk—but hype alone doesn’t heal what’s messing with your game. That’s where EMDR comes in.

We’re the only practice in the area with specialty training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy for athletes. And we don’t just talk the talk—we’re athletes and parents of athletes, too. We know the pressure, the fear, the mind blocks that hit hard.

EMDR helps you work through all of it—no fluff, no drawn-out programs. Just real healing so you can get back in the zone, confident and clear when it counts.

Who this type of therapy is for:

  • Athletes struggling to bounce back after injuries or high-impact moments.

  • Those battling performance anxiety, fear of failure, shame, or lost opportunities.

  • Athletes who feel off their game—disconnected, out of sync, and not performing like they know they can.

  • Anyone tired of endless mindset hacks, toxic positivity or drawn-out programs that don’t actually help.

So, how does it work?

Think of it like a mental clean-up crew for your toughest moments. In an EMDR session, a specially trained therapist helps you revisit a tough memory while keeping your brain busy with things like guided eye movements or handheld buzzers (sounds weird, but effective!).

This helps your brain reprocess the junk—kind of like emotional composting—so it stops showing up uninvited mid-game, mid-rep, or mid-sleep. The memory sticks around, but the sting doesn’t.
